Manitoba's Premiere Rodeo Dance Band
Honest as a day spent on a tractor, and driven like the drifting Prairie snow. 2017 Manitoba Country Music Association Male Artist of the Year, Quinton Blair is a road running, tale-spinning songwriter. Silky and smooth like a diesel engine, his beard glistening in the setting sun, its rodeo mud in his teeth and horses in his blood. He covers almost as many miles as any cowboy at the CFR. Playing over 100 dates a year, this tale-spinning troubadour was born to wander. From Halifax to Dawson City, and Nunavut to Nashville.
Born the only son to a family with a horse soaked history, Quinton and his families farming roots are based in Southern Manitoba. Whether riding pasture, or helping friends sort and ship, sitting atop a horse is where Quinton was born to be. From roping pens to dusty arena's, Blair and his band - the Bronc Stomper's, travel Western Canada in their rusty F-150 playing country fairs and rodeo dances. "They're like an old rope horse; they turn left before you even nudge a spur" says Blair of his seasoned band who follow him through any song that will get leather soled boots gliding across a waxed dancehall floor. "We make our hay when it's hot" he laughs as the irony is that Blair had to cut back his involvement with the farming and ranching crowds - "I was always on the road when we'd try to wrap up hay". Though still the first guy to hit a saddle when a neighbour is moving cattle, but fed up with dusty hay, Quinton took to the highway to play some of the best country music from Ian Tyson to Dwight Yoakam to Hank Sr.
With horses in his blood, and steers on his mind, Quinton Blair and the Bronc Stomper's get the call to play some of the marquee Ag Fairs, Rodeos and Country Fairs in Western Canada. With an intuition for reading a dance crowd and playing "real" country music, Quinton Blair is a down home, good old boy attitude known for putting on some of the best parties that happen in the dirt.
